Music From the Chamber
Released in 2008, the album contains music for solo piano and two pieces for mandolin: a duet with piano and a quintet with strings. I was popular among mandolin players at that time.

From "Three Etudes for Piano" (1998). The etude is a paraphrase on a mirror version of Chopin's Etude No. 1 Op. 10. The technical challenges were almost entirely preserved, and so were the harmonic functions.

Quintet for mandolin and string quartet

Commissioned by mandolin artist Jacob Reuven, the piece incorporates the mandolin both as a leading instrument as well as a part of accompanying textures. The sharp distinction between the melodically oriented bowed-instruments and the clear attack of the mandolin creates mutual stimulation: the strings are required to produce an articulate rhythmic execution of phrases while the mandolin participates in harmonic textures.

The duet was composed originally for mandolin and piano in 2006, rearranged for mandolin and guitar later, and finally rearranged again by Gregg Nestor for Mantar Duo, Jacob Reuven (mandolin) and Adam Levin (guitar). The piece features on the album Music From the Promised Land by Naxos in 2021, that reached No. 1 in the Billboard Traditional Classical Albums chart. Link to excerpt from Mantar’s live performance.
